Margaret interviews John [note very noisy - you have to concentrate to hear them] Oct 2011 It's all change in Gakui this month. The Rev Peter has now moved on to a new
Parish so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he faces new
challenges. Rev Daniel is now the vicar in Gakui and we will be making contact
with him shortly. The really exciting news it that we have made a new contact -
Milka Kamau. She is a member of the congregation so that should help us to keep
to maintain a good link with Gakui as the vicars move frequently. Milka is
enthusiastic about getting to know us and sends warm greetings and blessings
from herself and her family, her two daughters Esther and Cynthia, son Ryan and
husband John. She is looking forward to growing together and sharing the love
of the Lord. Please remember them in your prayers. We are very fortunate to
have made such a great start to our renewing our links with Gakui. Cynthia,
Margaret, David, Ray, Myself and Isabelle met with other Parishes across Devon
on Saturday to exchange stories about the links with Thika. It seems
maintaining good communication is a real challenge for everyone so it's just
fantastic that we've got hot texters that side of the world in St James'. We're
hoping that we can now start to really grow in our understanding of their
lives. We learnt a lot at the weekend about the growth of the church in Thika
and the strength of their spirituality. Fingers crossed with this link some of
their faith can rub off on us. We also give a warm welcome to our friends from
Thika who are visiting the UK for a few days from 21st October and we hope they
enjoy their short visit to Willand! 14th Aug 2011 Please think of Gakui in your prayers. They have asked that we join them in
praying for help in the drought. Particularly think of Reverend Peter with the
added responsibility he has of serving a dry area as he looks for food donors to
